  • Scroll Saw Basics
    Date / Time: Jan. 17, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ This class will teach the basic operation of the scroll saw. It will teach basic saw safety, blade selection, cutting techniques, etc.
  • Introduction to the Router
    Date / Time: Jan. 18, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ For the student with little or no experience, this class will focus on using the router as a hand held power tool and as a stationary tool mounted in a router table.
  • Hand-Cut Dovetails

    ▸ This class is designed for the student who wants to go "old school" and learn the proper method of cutting dovetails by hand with a dovetail saw.
  • Machine-Made Dovetail Joints

    ▸ Students will learn the techniques necessary to make machined half blind dovetail joints and through dovetails. The class will use the Rockler Dovetail Jig differences with the Porter Cable Dovetail Jig and Leigh Dovetail Jig will be discussed.

    Date / Time: Jan. 21, 2018 (10:00 am - 3:00 pm)

    ▸ This is not a class for a beginner. Turning experience is required. The student will learn step by step, from glue-up to finished goblet.
  • Introduction to Pen Turning

    ▸ This class is designed for the student who wants to learn how to turn a pen on the lathe. The "Introduction to Turning" class is recommended as a prerequisite.
  • Make & Take: Band Saw Box

    ▸ The class takes you through all of the steps from design and layout through cutting and sanding using a band saw and spindle sander to finishing and flocking.
  • Tuning Up & Using Hand Planes

    ▸ There are some tricks to turning acrylics successfully. This class will cover the techniques to assure a positive result.
  • Make & Take a Knife Kit

    ▸ Students will make a knife using the Rockler Semi-Skinner Knife Kit, and the wooden figured walnut scales. All materials are included.

  • Door & Drawer Construction
    Wed: January 20, 2018 @ 11:00 am
    This demo will be focused on the Miter Fold Dado Set on the construction of drawers. We will also demonstrate the use of the Rockler Drawer slide Jig and Door hinge Jig.
  • Wood Finishing
    Sat: January 27, 2018 @ 11:00 am
    This demo will do over what the best finish to use is and why. For the top of the cabinet we will cover oil type finishes. For the base, door & drawer fronts we will discuss and demonstrate the use of Milk paints and other top coats.
  • CNC Basics
    Wed: January 31, 2018 @ 1:00 pm
    During this demonstration, attendees will explore the exciting possibilities of woodworking with the use of a computerized CNC machine. The demo is structured around the Next Wave CNC Shark HD4. A demonstration of V-Carve's software will be provided during the time period . Attendees are required to provide their own safety glasses and hearing protection.

  • Basic Millwork: Make & Take a Cutting Board
    Date / Time: Feb. 1, 2018 (9:00 am - 3:00 pm))
    Fee to Attend: $100.00
    ▸ In this 6 hour class, students will learn the use of a variety of power tools from the jointer to the router table, as they take a piece of rough stock to finished cutting board. Learn how to take rough lumber to smooth straight boards through the use of a jointer, thickness planer, and the table saw. Then the students will glue up and shape the cutting board with tools like the Bandsaw and Router Table.
  • Turning a Plate
    Date / Time: Feb. 2, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm))
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ This class is for the student that has had some experience with bowl turning. The "Introduction to Turning" class is recommended as a prerequisite. Because of the nature of turning a large, flatter surface the student will learn additional methods of securing and chucking your piece as you go through the turning process. All materials are included.
  • Sharpening your Turning Chisels
    Date / Time: Feb. 3, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ Students will be introduced to the various methods of sharpening lathe tools. The Sorby Pro Edge System, the Tormek, the WorkSharp, and the One Way Wolverine Grinding Systems, will all be discussed. Students will wxplore the benefits and differences between each system. Bring your dull lathe chisels to the class.
  • Introduction to Turning
    Date / Time: Feb. 4, 2018 (11:00 am - 3:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ This is the class for the first time turner or anyone with limited experience in turning. The student will be introduced to the lathe and many of the common tools used in wood turning, including the proper use of said tools. The student will learn a variety of techniques of turning between centers, including sharpening tools.
  • Band Saw Basics
    Date / Time: Feb. 7, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ Learn how to tune up and get the most out of your bandsaw. A bandsaw is a great tool for nearly any shop. However, it does require set up and checking everytime you change a blade or even when the tension is released, on the machine. Learn how to select the proper blade for the project at hand, adjust your bandsaw, proper tentioning, and how to resaw.
  • Tuning Up & Using Hand Planes
    Date / Time: Feb. 8, 2018 (11:00 am - 3:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ In this modern world of whining and growling power tools, hand planes are often relegated to the shelf or to occasionally clean up a rough edge. Because of our reliance on power tools, we may have never taken the time to understand how planes work and more importantly how well they can work. If this sounds like you, this is the class for you. The class will cover the basics: setting up the plane; sharpening; tuning; and using the plane for edge jointing, planing end grain, and surfacing.
  • Introduction to Bowl Turning
    Date / Time: Feb. 9, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ This is the class for a student with some spindle-turning experience that is looking to branch out into other types of turning. The "Introduction to Turning" class is recommended as a prerequisite. The class will focus on techniques and tools used in turning a simple bowl. The student will turn their own bowl. All materials are included.
  • Introduction to Pen Turning
    Date / Time: Feb. 10, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ This class is designed for the student who wants to learn how to turn a pen on the lathe. The "Introduction to Turning" class is recommended as a prerequisite. Students will be introduced to the many different species of wood pen blanks and styles of pen kits that are available, to make beautiful pens. Pens make great gifts and can be sold as desired. All materials are included.
  • Make & Take: Lidded Box
    Date / Time: Feb. 11, 2018 (11:00 am - 3:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ Students will learn how to turn a small lidded box on the lathe. The "Introduction to Turning" class is recommended as a prerequisite. This is an intermediate class, for the student who wants to learn how to turn something slightly different. All material is provided.
  • Scroll Saw Basics
    Date / Time: Feb. 14, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ This class will teach the basic operation of the scroll saw. It will teach basic saw safety, blade selection, cutting techniques, etc. The student will be informed of the many different projects that can be created w/ this versiatile saw. The student can view the many different books and magazines that are available on the subject, in the store library.
  • Introduction to the Router
    Date / Time: Feb. 15, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ Students will learn about one of the most versatile woodworking tools in the shop, the router. This class is designed for the student with little or no experience in the use of the router. The class will focus on using the router as a hand held power tool and as a stationary tool mounted in a router table. All materials are included.
  • Turning a Segmented Bowl
    Day 1: Feb. 16, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Day 2: Feb. 17, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $100.00
    ▸ During this 2-day class, attendees will see the procedure for cutting the segments out on a table saw sled and the proper method of gluing the segments together, and then turning the glue-up on a lathe. Day 2 - Students will take the glue up from the first day and turn it into a bowl. This is an intermediate class and not for beginners. Students must have turning experience before attempting to turn a segmented bowl.
  • Make & Take: Wooden Goblet
    Date / Time: Feb. 18, 2018 (10:00 am - 3:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $100.00
    ▸ This advanced class is for the intermediate turner who wants to turn something different and unique. This is not a class for a beginner. Turning experience is required. The student will learn step by step, from glue-up to finished goblet. The student will learn how to sand and finish the goblet once it has been turned on the lathe. The turning blank is included. There will be a strong emphasis on safety.
  • Building Shutters
    Date / Time: Feb. 19, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ Building shutters has traditionally been a process that required a lot of set up work, jigs, and other assembly devices that made for a demanding and challenging process. With the introduction of the Rockler Shutter System much of this has changed. Most woodworkers with modestly outfitted shops, can produce shutters that rival custom made shutters, at a fraction of the cost. Each student will learn all of the steps necessary to desigh and build plantation shutters. The student will walk away with a minature shutter that they have built. Shutter making materials are included.
  • CNC Shark Basics
    Date / Time: Feb. 21, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)
    Fee to Attend: $65.00
    ▸ During this class, attendees will explore the exciting possibilities of woodworking with the use of a computerized CNC machine. The demo is structured around the CNC Shark HD4. A demonstration of V-Carve's Aspire software will be provided during the time peiod.

    ▸ Students will learn the techniques necessary to make machined half blind dovetail joints and through dovetails. The class will use the Rockler Dovetail Jig differences with the Porter Cable Dovetail Jig and Leigh Dovetail Jig will be discussed. Each student will be given the opportunity to set up and practice each joint. All materials are included.
  • Hand Cut Dovetails
    Date / Time: Feb. 23, 2018 (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

    ▸ This class is designed for the student who wants to go, "old school", and learn the proper method of cutting dovetails by hand with a dovetail saw. The proper layout method will be presented, along with a discussion of the proper tools necessary to cut a crisp dovetail. Each student will spend some time practicing cutting a set of dovetails. All materials are included.

    ▸ This class is designed for the pen turner that is ready for the next step in their craft. Acrylics open up a wide variety of options and colors available to the pen turner. There are some tricks to turning acrylics successfully. This class will cover the techniques to assure a positive result. All materials are included.     ▸ Students will learn how to make a one of a kind gift box, cut out with a standard bandsaw. The class takes you through all of the steps from design and layout through cutting and sanding using a band saw and spindle sander to finishing and flocking. Each student will work on a box of their own. Class includes all materials.
