  • Turning a Stacked Bowl
    Date: Dec. 2, 2017
    Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
    Fee to Attend: $100.00
    ▸ This is a 2-day class where you will learn how to cut and glue-up a stack of blocks of contrasting wood species to turn on the lathe.
  • Make & Take: Band Saw Box
    Date: Dec. 6, 2017
    Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

    ▸ The class takes you through all of the steps from design and layout through cutting and sanding using a band saw and spindle sander to finishing and flocking.
  • Band Saw Basics

    ▸ Learn how to tune up, select the proper blade for projects, adjustment, proper tentioning, and how to resaw.

    ▸ Students will make a knife using the Rockler Semi-Skinner Knife Kit , and the wooden figured walnut scales. All materials are included.

    ▸ The class will focus on techniques and tools used in turning a simple bowl. The student will turn their own bowl - for a student with some spindle-turning experience.

    ▸ Students will learn how to turn a small lided box on the lathe. The "Introduction to Turning" class is recommended as a prerequisite. This is an intermediate class.
  • Building Shutters
    Date: Dec. 11, 2017

    ▸ Each student will learn all of the steps necessary to desigh and build plantation shutters. The student will walk away with a minature shutter that they have built.
  • Scroll Saw Basics

    ▸ This class will teach the basic operation of the scroll saw. It will teach basic saw safety, blade selection, cutting techniques, etc.

    ▸ This class is designed for the student who wants to go "old school" and learn the proper method of cutting dovetails by hand with a dovetail saw.
  • Introduction to the Router

    ▸ For the student with little or no experience, this class will focus on using the router as a hand held power tool and as a stationary tool mounted in a router table.

    ▸ This is not a class for a beginner. Turning experience is required. The student will learn step by step, from glue-up to finished goblet.

    ▸ Learn the basics: Setting up the plane; Sharpening; Tuning; Using the plane for edge jointing, planing end grain, and surfacing.

    ▸ This class is designed for the student who wants to learn how to turn a pen on the lathe. The "Introduction to Turning" class is recommended as a prerequisite.
  • Machine-Made Dovetail Joints

    ▸ Students will learn the techniques necessary to make machined half blind dovetail joints and through dovetails. The class will use the Rockler Dovetail Jig differences with the Porter Cable Dovetail Jig and Leigh Dovetail Jig will be discussed.

    This demo will focus around all the techniques you can do with a bandsaw from resawing lumber to cutting intricate parts with 1/8" blades. Choosing the right blade for special projects will also be covered.
  • Bowl Turning
      ▸ Saturday: 12/09/2017 @ 11:00 am
    This demo will show you how to turn a bowl quickly and easily with the use of carbide turning tools. How to mount your stock with the use of different chucks and plates will also be covered.
  • Production Sanding for the Woodworking Enthusiast
      ▸ Saturday: 12/16/2017 @ 11:00 am
    This demo will show you how the use of a drum sander can save you a lot of time in the sanding process of all your components for most woodworking projects.
